Catie in MeowmeowLand Pre-Installed:
The main reason to play the game, of course, is not so much the story or the puzzles, but the amazing and inventive backdrops and animations. In the game, we visit a number of memorably surreal scenes, meet a host of strange characters, many who reappear across several of the scenes in unexpected ways, and interact with lots of fun magical artifacts and potions. The animations are hilarious, and had me laughing out loud. Audio and sound is on point. Adventures of Catie is a dream-like take on Alice in Wonderland. There will be many characters from the books of Lewis Carroll (and many that he couldn’t have even imagined. Although, scratch that , out of all people – he probably could), but the story set-up pretty much starts just like in the book – “down the rabbit/cat hole”. After that, there isn’t much story to speak of, as Catie simply tries to get home traveling through surreal environments, one more bizarre than the other. It’s simple, and for a 3-hour game based on puzzles it works wonderfully. The surrounding world is so overwhelmingly odd (in the best possible way.
